A Spectacle Blind Flange (also known as Figure-8 flange) is a safety device used to either isolate a pipeline or allow flow. It consists of two metal disks joined by a web one side being a solid blind plate, the other a ring spacer. By rotating the spectacle blind, the pipeline can be blocked (blind side) or kept open (spacer side).
